You Probably Already Saw Someone You Could Date Today

You probably saw someone you were attracted to today and did absolutely nothing about it.

Maybe they were ordering coffee in front of you, sitting a few seats away at a bar, working out at your gym, sitting in the park with friends, or having dinner at the table next to yours. You noticed them, maybe they noticed you too, and then you both kept living your lives.

This happens constantly, especially in New York. We can spend an entire day surrounded by people and have no idea which of them are single, but even more importantly, which of the people we’re attracted to are attracted to us too.

For most of human history, not knowing was just part of meeting someone. You saw someone you liked, took the risk, and found out!

But that’s not where we are anymore.

We removed friction from everything, including dating

We can sit in our apartment in pajamas, order a Michelin-star meal and have it show up at our door without ever interacting with another person. We can find a one-of-one piece of clothing in Japan, order it from our phone, and have it in New York four days later. We can tap a button from inside our apartment and have a car waiting outside by the time we make it downstairs.

Eventually, we applied that same expectation of convenience to dating.

We can sit at home and essentially shop online for a partner, scrolling through people the same way we scroll through everything else. We get the résumé version of a person, a few photos, their height, job, interests and prompts, decide whether we like what we see, swipe, and keep shopping if we don’t.

That’s what at-home dating apps are.

We took the same frictionless experience we built for food, clothes, cars and everything else and applied it to human beings, except people aren’t products and attraction isn’t something you can add to a cart.

All of that convenience has also changed what we’re willing to tolerate in real life. Walking across a room with no idea if someone is single, attracted to you, or even wants you to approach them feels like an enormous amount of friction compared with sitting at home and swiping.

So we notice someone, think about going over, talk ourselves out of it, and move on with our night. Maybe they were interested too, maybe they weren’t, and we’ll probably never know.

Remove the friction, not the human interaction

Traditional dating apps removed friction by taking dating out of the real world and putting it on our phones. Radius removes friction without taking dating out of real life.

Because the problem was never that we needed an easier way to sit at home and look at more people. We needed an easier way to act on the people we’re already noticing when we’re actually out living our lives.

That’s what Radius does.

You already saw someone, you already know you’re attracted to them, you just don’t know if they’re single or if they’re attracted to you too. Radius removes that uncertainty.

Radius is an IRL dating app for single people in NYC that only works when you’re out in the real world, never at home. It works across the third spaces that already make up your life, bars, restaurants, cafés, gyms, parks, museums, bookstores, and just about every other third space you can think of.

When you’re there, Radius lets you discover other single Radius users who are physically in the same place as you, in real time. You privately show interest in the person you noticed, and if they choose you too, Radius confirms it’s mutual.

Then you go talk to them.

The tech removes the friction. Everything else is still you.

Dating should exist within the life you’re already living

Dating doesn’t need to be something you go home and do.

You’re already going to coffee shops, meeting friends at bars, going to dinner, working out, sitting in parks, visiting museums, and living your life around other people. Attraction is already happening within those moments, we just stopped acting on it.

Radius puts dating back into that existing life.

The technology isn’t there to choose your partner, manufacture chemistry, carry the conversation, or create a digital relationship before you meet. It gives you the information you need to make the first move, then gets out of the way.

You still have to walk over, start the conversation, and see whether there’s chemistry. Radius doesn’t replace any of that. It helps you get past the uncertainty that stops the conversation from happening in the first place.

Radius is a dating app for meeting people in person in New York City. It shows you other Radius users who are at the same participating place at the same time, whether that’s a bar, café, gym, park, or another third space. You can privately express interest, and if the interest is mutual, you’ll know before you go say hi. There are no messages to exchange or digital conversations to keep up.

The person you want to meet is already in the room. Radius helps you find out if they want to meet you too.
